The notary serves that purpose. By signing a legal document, in front a of a witnessing notary, the party or parties agree that the facts of the document are correct. There are many daily business operations that need notarizations. Notarization very important in protecting the public from fraud. The list of documents that require notarization would include mortgages, real estate deeds, affidavits, loans and contracts. The notary stamp and the signature of the notary are proof of the willing signing of a contract. The document signers must verify their identity by presenting a drivers license to the notary. Once the signers identity is established and they have signed the document, itâ??s the notary places a notary jurat stamp, seal and signature on it. At the bottom of the document is the notary jurat stamp which contains the names of the signers, the date of the signing and the name of the witnessing notary. As a notary public, you should not offer any legal advice, unless you are also a lawyer. Here are a few tips to consider if youâ??re thinking of becoming a notary public. The set of requirements for becoming a notary will vary with the state where you live. Notary certification is state specific. A notary from one state usually has no notarization authority in another state. A notary in Van Nuys, California needs to have cleared a background check, paid a number of fees, taken classes and passed a written test. Notary licenses are as accessible as drivers licenses in other states. Renewals are nearly automatic. Notaries have a four year term in most states and need reappointment when their term expires. Providing the Florida Notary Association with a completed form, a copy of the expired or current notary license, proof of Florida residency and a $95 fee will get a Florida notary license renewed.
